In 5th grade at West Hardin, we strive to prepare our students for life beyond elementary school by developing problem solvers, critical thinkers, and caring, productive citizens. We provide our students with a safe and welcoming learning environment. Every student is encouraged to succeed academically and socially by engaging in all subjects to become well-rounded students. During 5th grade, we will not only test the foundation of their academics from the previous years, but we will also challenge them to become focused and ready for the next level. Questioning and inquiry, project learning, and cooperative learning strategies in all subjects help develop our student’s potential as life-long learners.

Technology in the Classroom

By now, our students are accustomed to using technology to achieve. Computerized games, research, testing, and tools allow our students to grow academically. Students have more access to utilize technology for their learning needs.

Expectations for Parents and Students

Parents are expected to partner with 5th grade teachers to ensure student success. We are a team that works hard to see that students reach their full potential. When students see that school and academics are important, they see that they have the support to succeed.

Students are expected to be responsible, respectful, and ready to be engaged in class. They need to be fluent in basic mathematic facts and reading skills and have the desire to learn more.
