Our 4th grade teachers strive to promote outstanding citizenship while nurturing and developing a thirst for knowledge in our students using cooperative learning strategies in our classrooms daily.

In reading, we use Tennessee State Standards and our School District’s pacing guide to determine our curriculum throughout the year.  We use Scott Foresman “Reading Street” as our primary reading manual.  We also read science and social studies leveled readers to expand our student’s knowledge base across subject areas.  Students work in small groups during instruction that is tailored to their learning level.

Partnering with Technology to Prepare for Tomorrow’s Success Story

All vocabulary words, stories, and games from our current series are all accessible on-line.  Students are given assignments which are completed through the use of our mobile laptop cart.  They also enjoy working in small groups and play educational reading games that meet Tennessee State Standards.

Parent Involvement

Since our curriculum is online, our parents are able to access our many on-line learning games.  Even student textbooks and leveled readers are available online so that parents are aware of what their child is learning.

Expectations

Students are expected to be prepared, on task, and engaged in learning each day.  We love when students set goals, such as meeting a specific number of Accelerated Reader (AR) points, and achieving them.
